A huge rally draws hundreds of thousands to the streets of Barcelona. Protesters waved Catalan pro independence flags behind a huge banner that
read "for rights and liberties, for democracy and unity, we want them
back home!".
The demonstration was organized by a new alliance of the Catalan civil society called Coexistence and Democracy Space formed by all the Catalan labor unions, civil organizations, the cultural ones ans the two pro-independence grassroots groups, the National Catalan Assembly and Omnium, whose presidents are among the nine persones in prison awaiting trial for their roles in last year's successful referendum in Catalonia. All the parties except the Spanish nationalists have supported the rally.
They can cut all the flowers... but they can't stop the spring.
